5 Mistakes To Avoid When Starting A Digital Dietetic Business

Just getting started or feeling stuck with growing your dietetic business online?

AVOID these 5 common mistakes, they will hold you back my friend...

#1 - SELF DOUBT

The only regrets you will have is that you didn't go for it! When someone else beats you to market with your idea... you'll wish you had started years ago. You can do this! Don't let self doubt hold you back :-)

#2 - CLIENTS WILL COME TO ME

Your qualification IS NOT a free ticket to client attraction online. Many dietitian's believe that just because they are qualified, client will want to work with them and as such use their APD / RD status as a unique selling proposition (USP).

Instead, you have to go out and get the clients. You have to bring them into your business in a way thats reliable and replicable. Always put marketing FIRST in your business.

#3 - SPENDING BEFORE SELLING

A website, SEO and pretty logo are helpful but not when you're just starting out and don't have at least $2k of regular income each month. These online business 'luxuries' cost $$$ and you need to be in a position to fund them, long after the initial investment.

Avoid investing into these big ticket expenses before you have some sales under your belt.

A landing page from Mailchimp (or similar) can act as your website and a logo from Canva, Fiverr or Creative Market won't cripple your cash flow early on.

#4 - WORKING WITH THE WRONG MENTOR OR COACH

Ensure that you choose the right person to work with, someone who is aligned with your vision and knows the digital space. There are a heap of dietitian business coaches out there now. Where you can, use their free session to be sure it's going to be a good fit for you.

#5 - FEAR OF BEING SEEN

A business is not going to grow if no-one knows about it! There is a common belief that everything you post online or send via email is seen by everyone in your audience. WRONG... It's seen by hardly anyone unless you promote it again and again and again and again.

Don' t be afraid to let people know who you are and how they can work with you. If it feels like you're a broken record repeating itself with your messaging... then you know you're on the right track.
